SPANISH COURSES IN CADIZ

Why not make the most of your time in Cadiz by combining your Trinity TESOL Certificate and/or Teaching Younger Learners Extension course with some Spanish classes? Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner wanting to perfect your Spanish or, indeed, anywhere in between, then we have the course for you.

Do I need to be able to speak Spanish to teach English in Spain?

The answer is “no”. The TESOL course and its methodology will prepare you to teach adults anywhere in the world without needing to know the language of that country.

Having said that, the benefits are perhaps obvious; having a reasonable grasp of Spanish will help you settle into the country, help you make friends and help you understand the needs of your students. Also, employers are understandably keen to employ teachers who can speak Spanish, at least to some extent. So, having some Spanish is a huge benefit both socially and professionally.

Will learning Spanish help me as a teacher?

It is always good for teachers to be actively involved in learning at any level. It helps us understand and empathise with our students.

From the point of view of the TESOL course, being a Spanish student will give you invaluable insights into both teaching & learning. This is a wonderful opportunity for your own teaching as you will observe experienced teachers in action. Our partner Spanish school here in Cádiz, who run the courses, have been teaching Spanish since 1995.  If you choose to study Spanish before the TESOL course, it will help to make your teaching practice during the TESOL course less intimidating and even more meaningful. If you prefer to take the Spanish classes after the TESOL course, you will be able to approach the classes critically, with a deeper understanding of the processes and so get more out of the learning experience.

What does the Spanish course consist of?

An intensive period of study; 20 hours a week, 4 hours a day (on a Standard Spanish course)

Small class sizes; a maximum of seven students to maximise your learning efficiency.

Classes given by qualified, experienced Spanish teachers in a dedicated, enthusiastic and passionate atmosphere.
Classes organised by levels after a short test of your level.

Your Spanish course could also include a number of special features, designed so that you can really make the most of your time and explore both the language and the culture of Spain.

Additional possibilities include;

Courses of different length and intensity: A standard Spanish course (20 lessons a week), intensive Spanish courses (up to 30 lessons  a week) or one-to-one courses.

Combining your Spanish course with learning Flamenco, Surfing, Spanish guitar or Latin Dancing.

Special courses studying for official Spanish exams (D.E.L.E. exams), proficiency courses, Hispanic Studies or Spanish for business.
